Final Project
I had posted a comment before but I think it got erased somehow. Anyway I just wanted to say that I did enjoy this project. It's funny how a short video can take so much work. My one dissappointment is how the audio turned out. It's really hard to hear Gwen speak in some of the audio tracks. I should have had the camera closer. Oh well live and learn. As for the images I think they look good and even though it is short I believe it effectively gets the message across.

Well here is the video that we put together. I have to say I really enjoyed making it my only disappointment is the audio for the interview I did. There's one part it's not the best quality I should have just used a tape recorder or moved the camera closer. Oh well I'm still happy with the images and the overall message is really important. I hope that this may help some people who are struggling with drug abuse.

It's been a long time since I made a posting and I wanted to say that I really appreciate Mike as an instructor. It's not an easy thing trying to explain these applications to someone who has never used them before. I appreciate all the patience he has shown.
On a different note a friend told me about a country called Turkminestan (I'm not sure if that's the correct spelling) where the dictator there has outlawed the use of the internet. I guess it's a way for him to maintain control by trying to control the information people have access to. It makes me greatful that we have the freedom to use the internet and all these cool applications. Personally I think these applications are amazing. I particularly enjoy photoshop because its another medium I can use to express creativity, and hearing about countries where they can't use these technologies just makes me feel gratful that I live in a free country.

This was my first page. I wanted to show where the character had ended up in his career. I think Seattle is a good setting. I always find large metropolitan areas to be very interesting for a science fiction story. You see the photo of the old man in the corner of the page. He has lived much of his life in the city and I thought it was ironic that a man who has lived a good part of his life in a large city wants to escape to the jungle and be a wild thing. He essentially uses technology to reject it.

This is the end of the story. This is obviously where I had the most text which is why I made it take up half of the page. I was following the theme of the other pages that I created making a box and coloring to fit the scheme of the image. This tells of how the main character became a cyborg and the circumstances behind it.

Ideas and inspirations for images
I have to say I enjoyed manipulating images of myself. It was a lot of fun turning myself into an old man. I got the idea during the one class where where there was an example of cutting a face from a photo and then blending it over your own. I thought that would be the best way to go and I fortunatley found a picture of an older man who seemed to share my facial features. I thought it would be more fun to age myself rather than plastic surgery since I've been told I look like I'm twelve I don't think I would need it. I practiced on a different picture before I started on mine and was really impressed with the results, so after I practiced I worked on my own photo and I was happy with how it turned out.
The next image was the where I turned myself into a kind of human tiger hybrid. In my mind it seemed to make a lot of sense. The world is overcrowded, were are running out of space to live in and people are starving. The tiger mutation solves those problems because you would be able to live in the jungle because you would have the strength and abilities of a tiger and you would also be able to digest raw meat. You would have all the skills needed to live in the wild which means that there would not be as much of a need to destroy forests to build more houses and you would be able to hunt for your food.
It took me a little while to figure out what I was going to do for the cyborg picture but after searching through a lot pictures I decided to give myself the kind of glowing exterior. I liked how it turned because what came to my mind was how the earth is apparently being ravaged by global warming. In the background everything looks super hot and rather desolate. The idea is that it has become too hot for a normal organic being to survive so people no longer have plain skin. Their surfaces have become bio-luminescent and the extreme heat is actually used to power these cybernetic beings. Very little bio tissue remains on the exterior of the body. Also we no longer have five digits because they are not needed. Our hands now allow us to interact with technology simply through touch and each finger acts as an outlet. We also no longer have mouths because we communicate through thought and since all the energy we need is given by heat there is no need to eat.

Learning is fun
I am enjoying this class. What we learned today was very cool and makes me feel better about the first assignment. I like how we have creative freedom to create what we want, its very refreshing. I look forward to creating a cyborg photo of myself. I'm probably going to make myself look like the terminator. However I liked experimenting with the snake skin, it actually ended up looking metallic and robotic like. What I learned today will definitely help.
